Power of the Subconscious

 Power of the Subconscious

This blog is part of our thinking task assigned by Dr. Vaidehi Hariyani Ma'am.

"Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality."

- Earl Nightingale

On November 18, 2022, we visited the painting exhibition based on “Power of the Subconscious”, at Nilambag Palace, Bhavnagar.

The conscious mind can be described as whatever you are currently aware of. What you are feeling, doing, seeing, touching, experiencing. You are conscious of it, or aware of it. Consciousness does not involve stored information. It is what is happening now. It does involve thinking and making decisions. It is easy to control your conscious mind because you are able to use it to make choices.

But did you know that your mind also has a 'Mind' of its own?

Without even realizing, our mind is often governed by another entity which is called the sub-conscious mind.

The sub-conscious holds an innate power. Your subconscious mind is always working in the background, but you are not necessarily aware of it. Sometimes called the unconscious mind, your subconscious mind contains all of the stored information of everything you have ever experienced. We have some traits which seem like habits, but in reality these are those traits which are directly controlled by the sub-conscious mind, vis-à-vis your habits or your routine can be changed if you can control and direct your sub-conscious mind positively. To be able to control this 'mind power' and use it to improve the quality of your life is no walk in the park.

This exhibition depicts the cornucopia of thoughts and meandering questions, that can be part of the subconscious. The ability to understand the subconscious mind, can lead to controlling or getting rid of various phobias, which may be hindering positivity and productivity in life.

These all paintings are painted by Digvijaysinh Rana. He is a self taught painter. His work is inspired by his personal life experiences. Having spent his life so far in a small village, Digvijay often finds himself lost in thought. It is during these moments that he feels inspired to paint the canvas. With each passing thought, he builds on his art work, drawing inspiration from the relationship between man and woman as well as the turbulent emotions and experiences that encompass humanity. Suffering, sadness, happiness, success, failure, all are a part and parcel of life. Digvijay materialises on these thoughts with his art.

This two paintings are my favorites among all others. This both paintings are based on the story of Adam and Eve. The Old Testament tells of Adam and Eve, our progenitors. They lived in paradise in total innocence until the serpent (the devil) enticed them to eat the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge. As punishment for their disobedience, God banished them from paradise.

A man and a woman are two different entities that are created by the Almighty. They have biological differences. These differences only are making them live together in love and harmony. Many people say that in married life a woman is the heart of the family and a man is the head of the family. Without a heart, a head can't exist. Similarly, without a head, a heart can't exist. The whole body requires both the head and heart.

The key takeaway from this exhibition is that one must use consciousness to positively influence the subconscious thoughts.

"The great secret possessed by the great men of all ages was their ability to contact and release the powers of their subconscious mind. You can do the same.”

- Joseph Murphy
